A Humble gesture my Son learned not from me

Few week before me and my husband went to Goa along with my 1.5 year old
son, I was very enthusiastic as I am taking my son 1st time for such holiday
and luckily my son was equally cheerful, it was just a 3 days trip, we were
staying in a flat in a building where in all other flats foreigners were
staying. Foreigner’s from US and UK come to Goa and visit here for 2 to 6
months to relax.
We changed and freshened up, we were going out of the building to have
lunch and there after towards the beach and that time a foreigner couple were
coming into the building, I guess they had sun bath as we have a small
beach just within 1 km of distance from the building and they were bit wet as
well. I was looking at them observing them but at that moment they smiled and
said “hi” to my husband and then again “hi” to me, I have been to Goa earlier
also and as in Goa you will mostly find many foreigner so I have learned that
they always greet us“hi” and “hello” to everyone with a smile and when someone greet
to us we also respond to them saying it, but this time when this couple said
“hi” and then I said thereafter my son correspondingly said in his small sweet
voice “hi” and with a strange expression. I guess he must be thinking we don’t
know them then why they said “hi”.

And thereafter were ever we went my son said “hi” to everyone who
crosses our path with a cutest smile , me and my husband was enjoying the way
he was greeting everyone and we loved it

A weekend arrived we went to a birthday party of 5 year old kid of my
colleague, earlier for my son all were alien and whenever anyone come near to
him or try to take him he starts crying but that day was different he smiled at
every one said “hi” to all of them and happily he stayed. Next day I had conversation
about this to my mom and my mom said after coming from Goa my son in park also
he says “hi” to everyone as soon he enters and then he starts playing .
At that moment I realized we always says “hi” to our known people only,
not to strangers and we don’t have time to look up to stranger’s and give a
smile as well and for my son all are strangers and he practice to do “hi” to
anyone when I use to say but our goa trip taught my son to give smile and say “hi”
to everyone, this small gesture my son learned not from me but from foreigners
and I leaned from him.
